Passing Exams - Quick Guide

Passing exams requires work during the course, committed revision techniques and a good exam technique.

Make lots of notes – You don’t know what you will forget so you will need to keep detailed notes for when it comes to revision time.

Revision techniques are easy to learn…

Start a revision timetable – Do this as early as you can. Once you make it you need to commit to it. Make sure you spread your revision out and don’t cram it in to a couple of days.

Right environment – Make sure you revise where you feel comfortable. Do you prefer your bedroom or a public library? You will do better passing exams if you revise where you feel comfortable. Some people are morning people and others and night owls. Which are you? Plan your revision around times where you are most alert. Try not to work too late though.

Revision key cards/post its – Write key words and phrases onto cards or post it notes and place them around the house. This will be enough to keep your brain focused and the key issues at the front of you mind. You only need the key phrase. Too much detail is not necessary as this will be in your notes. The cards are there to jog your memory.

Once you have mastered your revision techniques you can then move onto exam technique. Passing exams probably depends most on good exam technique …

Arrive Early – You need to get to the exam room with plenty of time to spare. This will mean you are less stressed and it will also give you a chance to read your notes through again. You could use your key cards.

Plan – You need to know when to move on to a different section and not spend too much time on others. You don’t want to be rushing towards the end of the exam.

Checking – Leave some time at the end to check your work and go back and make the necessary corrections.

Once the above has been mastered then you should have no trouble passing exams.
